Tunnel Creek, Gibb River Road

Tunnel Creek is beautiful. We went there a little bit scared but came back happy.

The cave was dark and slippery. There were fresh water crocs there so we always were keeping an eye out. There were two caves but they were a few steps away from each other.

The only scary bits that annoyed us were that we had to walk through water! When we reached the end there was a nice little creek and there was also a mud slide we tried to climb. We finally went back, on our way back we saw a fresh water croc. It was pretty cool!

History

The history of this place is very interesting!

When the white people took over that area some aborigines started a revolt and the leader of this gang was friends with the white. There was war and the gang stole some cattle off the white people.

Finally the whites had enough, they were going to kill the leader. The leader was very smart and he hid in Tunnel Creek. The whites got confused 🤔because they had seen him on both sides.

In the end they killed him but he is famous for his tricky hide out.
