Around Straya
Finally we have made it to a place we wanted to visit for a very long time.
The Thiel’s House
I think this was one of the best places we visited. It was paradise! Us kids loved all the animals there especially the platypus in the creek. The small creek was very beautiful and we had a nice swim in there too. Almost every evening Ezra and his friend Emmett would go to the creek and try take photos of the platypus. Priscilla enjoyed dressing up with Amalia while Heidi and I talked a lot, painted murals, did school with the rest of the kids, played animals, fed and petted chickens and chased geese. We also tried to set up a hammock that did not work very well. We had the coolest shower and toilet. The shower had no roof and we showered with plants all around us. The toilet was a little bench that we sat on did not have a lock on the door. The geese would sometimes come to the door while we were in there and make big squawking sounds that would scare me. Ezra and Emmett also found a huge snake skin outside the toilet door which must have been shed while we were sleeping! There were cows there which were really cute! We would have to cross the cow paddock to go and visit Heidi and Emmett and Amalia in their house. It was sometimes scary but fun.
Australia Zoo
Home of the crocodile hunter.
We couldn’t believe we went there. It is such an amazing zoo! We went on Steve Irwin day which is a day in remembrance of him, so there was a lot of people there. We started off at the lizards. There was a lot of small ones and there was also the oldest lizard in captivity there, the iguana. After the lizards we had a look at the American alligators. They were pretty 😎 cool.
The next thing was pretty cool a huge crocodile statue we took a couple of pictures with. We will show you. We started to notice that there was a big group of people gathering around a shaded grass area and we realised it was the Irwin family with the famous Wiggles! We stayed and watched around for a bit then we moved on. We stoped to have a look at the massive tortoises. They were huge!!!!
Next was the Australian animals – the dingoes, tazy devils and cassowaries. They were all awesome! By this time everyone was getting tired so we decided to go to the lolly shop. After the delicious 🤤 ice cream we went to the “roo heaven”. In this cage the kangaroos went around freely and you could feed and pat them.☺️ After a long time in roo heaven we continued on to the next destination. We went to the Asian section. In this section they had the Asian Elephant. They were so graceful. In this section we also saw the beautiful, beautiful red panda!!!!! I love red pandas!!!
Finally we decided to go to the Showgrounds before they started the show. By the time we got there the people were already flocking there so we quickly ate lunch and grabbed a seat.
The show started with an introduction about Steve Irwin and his amazing work in the zoo. Next some native people did an Aboriginal song and danced. Then two of the ladies started a game – the group that could shout the loudest won 🥇 group 1 won the game and we were in group 2. After the game out popped the Wiggles. They sang some songs on fruit salad and brushing your teeth and then the Irwins joined them!!! And they sang a song of Steve Irwin then the wiggles left. After they left Terry and Robert did the crocodile show. It was awesome!! And the most scary thing of the day was this Robert jumped in the water with the crocodile and swam with him till he reached his cage!!!🫣He survived very well though.
Noosa beach
This beautiful beach was the first beach we had been to and had a swim in since Carnarvon, WA.
The fun thing about having walks was we would scare people with Ezras toy snake and people actually thought it was realistic. The beach was quite full on one side an almost empty on the other of course we chose the empty side. There was a few rocks around but other wise it was just a big open space of lovely yellow sand. We thought this beach was out of this world but our cousin’s who were with us were just like it was normal to them.
The water was quite pleasant and warm but a couple of times the waves would push me (Hadassah)over and keep me under the water with out being able to get out. After the water we got out and started to play sand castles and dig holes. Finally it was time to go and on the way back we saw a lovely blowhole it was quite small though. On the way back on the walk we also did our usual thing of scaring people with the snake. It was a lot of fun!
