Around Straya
Gnaraloo Station is a Cattle Station about 100km’s North of Carnarvon. You pass the Blowholes in order to get there. What we didn’t realise is that is had a very rough road for 60km into the station!
Once we got there, which was a Friday afternoon, we managed to get a beautiful spot right by the beach. We discovered that Gnaraloo Station is a place for all those who surf. It is a great surfing beach with some nice spots to snorkel and fish and swim.
We probably would not choose to go there again if travelling through as it was not worth the distance, however we had a lot of fun there exploring the station, walking the beaches and finding lots of washed up coral.
There were some beautiful cliffs with a really rough beach at the bottom. We managed to find a pathway down and explored the caves and coves and found some big clam shells.
At our camp site there were a lot of little mice. Not your usual house mice, but larger mice with very big, cute eyes. They were very destructive, however and ate our rubber sand mat that was very new!
We saw lots of cattle, goats and a big goanna crossing in front of our car when we were travelling through the station.
