Around Straya

We spent a week in Cairns! It had become to get quite hot while we were there as it was the last week of October so, as we could not afford to do much of the expensive Island visiting and as the stingers season had already begun we spent our time swimming in the caravan park pool, visiting Barron Gorge, visiting Rusty’s markets and eating amazing tropical fruit. We tried Paw paw, mangoes, star fruit, yellow and black sapote and some other different kinds of fruit. It was like a feast!
The Barron Gorge was right near the Lake Place Caravan Park we were staying in. It was very pretty and we saw some people white water rafting on there. It looked easy but it was actually very hard. At the Barron Gorge we learned that the soil did not have to be very nutritious to grow a rainforest as all the leaves that fall from the rainforest provide the nutrition for it.
For some reason the favourite place to go to in Cairns was Toyworld. It was a really big Toyworld that had a huge variety of toys. We had such fun looking through them all!
Cairns is a big place. One of the biggest places we had been too since we had left Perth. It was very busy.
We went to swim in the Crystal Cascades when we were there and they also had a great park in the middle of town with a river running through it that you could swim in with no crocodiles.
